2007 Shark Werks 3.9L 997 GT3, Guard LSD & RSS Suspension

This silver 2007 997GT3 came into us from San Diego with an original plan of upgrades including the SharkWerks exhaust and EVOMSit software and lightweight flywheel conversion. The plan quickly changed into a full-on SharkWerks 3.9 engine conversion and then some!

The car goes on the lift:

A few more parts are removed from the GT3:

With the engine and transmission out the the tear down can begin starting with the plugs:

The oil tank etc... is off now:

Some of the wiring and other auxiliary parts are removed along with the intake manifold:

Parts trolleys getting stacked with GT3 engine pieces:

Starting to look more like an engine in there somewhere!

A close up of the heads... These things will flow to 500hp and 8800rpms...

Out with the cam shafts!

Valves, springs/retainers:

The valves are in MINT condition on this 10,000mile car you would expect nothing less:

And now down to the pistons:

The parts cart keeps on filling up!:

Second layer:

And even deeper:

Before assembly begins it's off to the parts cleaner:

And once everything is cleaned etc.. it's time to start building with our larger bore cylinders and liners:

Then our cams as well:

Set up along with the timing blocks:

Then we can time them:

And the other side as well:

Starting to look like a block again:

And all back together again. Ready to be installed back into the car:

For 500hp we outfit the transmission with our upgraded clutch kit assembly including the RS single mass flywheel. The 997 GT3RS lightweight flywheel is in itself a great upgrade to help bring the car to life... easier revs, better 0-60 and a lot more fun to drive:

Before the transmission and engine are installed back into the car we install a revamped/strengthened limited slip differential unit from our friends at Guard Transmission:

In she goes...

Back in the car again with all the fluids:

The rear suspension is tightened up with the RSS upper rear links and bump-steer upgrade as well:

On goes the bypass and our larger tips:

The all-important ECU is then configured with the EVOMSit tuning:

A video showing some of the tuning method:

An alignment is up next:

Notice the new 3.9 badge...

And now ready for her 500+mile trip down South!
